APA104 Pixel Protocol
A compact, individually addressable RGB LED protocol with a built-in IC, using a single-wire serial interface for easy, precise color control.
Overview
APA104 LEDs integrate the control circuit and RGB chip in one SMD package, using a single data line similar to WS2812 but with improved signal shaping and timing. Each 5V LED processes 24-bit RGB data, passing it along the chain for consistent color mixing and smooth gradients. They feature built-in reset, gray level adjustment (256 levels), and enhanced transmission distance, making them suitable for animations and longer strips without significant signal loss.
